Weightless
I grew up fast.
Eldest daughter, immigrant family
I became an adult almost overnight.
While other kids were figuring out homework and heartbreak,
I was translating bank letters, chasing bills,
holding my family’s world together with both hands.
I don’t resent it.
It made me who I am
a problem solver by necessity, not by choice.
Now, I feel weightless.
Because I’ve learned how to hold it without sinking.
Knowing there is no burden
I do not have the tools to lift.
